Personal Energy Development |
As discussed in Personal Energy Management each person has an energy field around him/her that is the blueprint that sustains and creates the physical and subtle structure of that person. The subtle structure has been described in different ways in different spiritual systems. Two of these systems that I have found especially helpful are Huna - the Ancient Hawaiian psycho-spiritual understandings and Chakras - the Indian understandings. Which structure you use is not as important as understanding that we each of us have a subtle energy structure underlying our actions and experiences and that that subtle energy structure is effected by our actions and experiences both external and internal.
This personal structure can be thought of as analogous to the neural channels within the physical body. It is build on the experiences we have had both good and bad, joyous and painful, accepting and rejecting, loving and alienating. We store those experiences in emotional structures within us that we usually call feelings. Those emotional experiences result in our formulating beliefs and attitudes about life that are very deeply embedded. These emotional experiences and beliefs and attitudes influence the subtle energy body.
The experiences that are the most intense, whether positive or negative, create the greatest imprints within our personal energy structure. However, what impacts us is not the experience but our internal response to that experience. If you are young and relatively helpless and experiencing physical or emotional abuse, this goes in very deep. If you have an awesome "top of the mountain" spiritual experience, this also goes in very deep. Each such experience creates an energy focus that impacts the entire energetic structure.
With early negative experiences, they occur while the energy structure is still in the process of forming itself. Thus there is not as much capability to evaluate the experience and put it into perspective. However, at any age, severe trauma can create a form of post traumatic stress disorder, as we have found in many soldiers that spend significant time in a combat zone where their lives are constantly and actively at risk.
The more intense the negative emotional experience is to that person, the more the energy structure is changed by it. Negative emotional experiences create beliefs based on fear, anger, guilt, shame, helplessness, etc. Blocks are set up on the energy channels interfering with healthy patterns. Reservoirs of intense emotion are stored that lock the blocks and negative beliefs in place. These distortions become frozen within the energy structure as if they were set in concrete. Furthermore, in extreme trauma, the memory of these experiences is so unendurable that it is blocked.
This is a process that is well known and is addressed in emotional therapy. What is not realized is that many times emotional therapy may release the emotions without bringing changes in the underlying energetic structure. This means that the energy continues to move in dysfunctional ways creating trigger-reactions, compulsions, anxiety, etc. When one goes through therapy but things just don't seem to change that much, the energetic structures have not been healed. In order to get full healing the energetic structures must be returned to healthy operation through a process of energetic transformation as discussed on the next page.
